High school → family
What began as friendship became the kind of closeness where “friend” stopped feeling big enough.
SINCE HIGH SCHOOL — AND STILL GOING
Some friendships survive distance. Some become family. Ours somehow did both.
OUR STORY
I met you in high school and somehow a friendship that started in classrooms and after-school hangouts grew into something that followed us through every version of life.
We became inseparable. You became part of my family. Then life moved us around, but distance never really got a vote. We stayed present for the birthdays, the FaceTimes, the difficult days and the ordinary days that mattered just as much.

If you choose being liked over being real, you’re not being kind to yourself.

THE YEARS IN BETWEEN
What began as friendship became the kind of closeness where “friend” stopped feeling big enough.
College, moves and busy lives never erased the effort. We still showed up.
When you moved to Washington for your PhD, life somehow brought us back into the same orbit again.
CAMERA ROLL EVIDENCE
Trips, dressed-up nights, random selfies, confetti, Seattle, desert rocks — basically proof that the friendship has range.

YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE MIGHT BE BOOKS
You have this habit of finding little ways to say, I thought of you. Sometimes that looks like a call. Sometimes a message from a trip. And very often, somehow, it becomes another book.
Even during hard seasons, you found ways to make me feel seen. The gifts were never just gifts. They were reminders that somebody was paying attention.

WHAT I HOPE YOU KNOW
Your drive. Your honesty. The way you make people feel seen. The way you keep moving through hard things without losing the softness that makes you you.
I’ve watched you work toward your PhD, build a life, show up for people, and keep becoming more of yourself. I probably don’t say it enough, but I notice. And I’m proud.
A BIRTHDAY LETTER
If I had to describe you in one sentence, I’d say you are one of the rare people who manage to be deeply grounded, incredibly thoughtful and still quietly hilarious all at the same time.
Thank you for being the kind of friend who shows up. Thank you for every check-in, every conversation, every book, every note and every way you have made me feel remembered. Thank you for being honest, warm, brilliant and fully yourself.
You are more than a friend to me. You are family. My sister, my safe place, and one of the best parts of my story.
I hope this next year gives back some of the care you so naturally give everyone else. I hope it brings you rooms that recognize your brilliance, rest that actually feels like rest, ridiculous amounts of laughter, and new memories we’ll eventually have too many pictures of.
Happy birthday. I love you deeply, and I’m grateful that life let us find each other so early.
